A in depth visual tour of Caerlaverock Castle with pipe music by Gavin Maxwell and singing by June Tabor. Photos taken in 2,005 & 2,007 by Beth Maxwell Boyle. Surrounded by a double moat and hundreds of acres of flat marshy willow woods (known in Scotland as a "moss"), Caerlaverock was built to control the South-West entrance to Scotland which in early times was the waterway across the Solway Firth. Carlaverock Castle was the seat of the chief of Clan Maxwell.
